Sometimes You Have To Take Matters Into Your Own Paws

My parents are fairly well trained and take really good care of me for the most part.  There was the whole betrayal of trust at the vet’s office incident, but that’s another story for another day.  For the most part, I’m pretty happy with how they take care of me.

My biggest complaint is that they don’t always do things in a timely manner.  Like, NOW!  Dad just moves slower by nature.  He likes sloths, if that tells you anything.  Mom tends to move a little faster, but she spends entirely too much time taking pictures.  It’s like the woman thinks she’s paparazzi or something.

Mom’s picture taking habit is especially annoying when a Chewy box comes.  There’s always really good stuff in the boxes, and rather than opening and unpacking them in a hurry - there are treats and toys to be handed out after all - she likes to take pictures of all of us checking out the Chewy boxes.

It’s like she doesn’t understand that we’re all there to tell her to hurry up and hand out the treats and toys.

Sometimes you just have to take matters into your own paws and start unpacking the box yourself.  Mom doesn’t like how I unpack the box, so once I get started she puts the camera down and gets moving.

I Am NOT A Fan Of This Thing Called “Winter”!

I’m used to getting my way the vast majority of the time.  Maybe it’s because I’m adorable.  Maybe it’s because I’m a kitten.  Maybe it’s because I scream really loud whenever something displeases me.

I’m not sure why, but for the most part, I get what I want, when I want.  My parents are really digging their heels in on the whole “kittens aren’t allowed on the stove thing”, but that’s another story for another day.

Anyway.  As I was saying, I’m pretty used to things being how I like them.  So I’m not sure what in the heck is up with this thing called “winter”.  I don’t like it one bit.  It’s just too cold.

I’m not allowed outside, but I like to hang on the screen door, and poke my head out the door to see what’s going on out there in the world.  I can’t do that right now!  For one thing, Dad has closed the glass on the screen door, so I can’t latch my little claws into anything.  The biggest thing, though, is that it’s too cold!  I don’t even want to poke my head outside right now!

My mom got all sad and weepy when it first started getting cold and talked a lot about how much she hates winter.  I didn’t think that much of it.  I just thought she was being a drama queen, or didn’t know how to have fun.  I mean, come on, she’s the biggest “kittens aren’t allowed on the stove” tyrant.  It’s not like she’s the best at seeing the potential for fun in things.
I’m starting to think she was right, though.  Winter is awful!  It’s too cold to want to do much of anything.

Fortunately, I don’t have to leave every day for that place called “work” like my parents do.   I get to stay home and snuggle into the blankets and fleece sheets.  If I can just figure out the Amazon password I might even order myself a nice little space heater for the bedroom.

Seriously, though, I’m ready for this thing called “winter” to be over!

Hi, I'm Caroline!

Hi!  I’m Caroline.  As you can tell from my picture, I’m an adorable little tortoise shell (tortie) kitten.  No point in false modesty, y’all.  I’m just keeping it real.  I’m cute.  You know it.  I know it.  Let’s not pretend otherwise.

I live with my two parents, my two dog brothers, my two cat brothers, and my one cat sister.  And I’m the one in charge around here.  My parents like to think they are, but I think, deep down, they know I’m really the one running things around here.

They became my parents during the summer of last year.  Someone dropped me off at my aunt’s house right before Mom and Dad were supposed to go spend the weekend with her.  They took that as a sign that they needed to be my parents and brought me home with them.

I didn’t enjoy the car ride home.  It was sooooooooooooo loooooooooooooong!  But, I’ve loved pretty much every minute of my life since then.

I love meeting new people, and making new friends, so I hope you’ll stop by often, and leave a little note in the comments so we can connect.
